Neodymium is a chemical element (Nd) with the atomic number 60. It belongs to the lanthanide series and is a rare-earth element. The qualities of this element are malleability and rigidity. The majority of the commercial neodymium are present in China. The demand for neodymium is increasing every year, and it is now becoming one of the most sought out elements in the market.

Neodymium magnets are very diverse, and they are popular in many industries. And these magnets can be seen in almost every product you use on an everyday basis. The magnets are everywhere, from your smartphone to speakers and many more. The usage of these magnets increased in recent years; and are seen in almost every piece of equipment people use. Below are the top 7 uses of magnets made of neodymium:

    1. Audio Equipment

There are two magnets in speakers which control the system. A mobile electromagnetic coil is deferred near a fixed magnet, and the electric current passes through the coil. As the coil gets charged, it is concerned to the magnet and repelled again, causing amplified vibration changing it into music. The better the magnets are, the better quality of music you can hear.

    2. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRIs are the medical imaging devices that interact with a person’s body on minute levels. The atoms of your body are affected by magnets; this way, the device captures an image of the effect.

The effect varies based on the type of tissues present in your body, and it gives an excellent diagnostic image that doctors can rely upon without any doubts.

    3. Business Displays & Signage

Nowadays, businesses are relying on magnets to hold their signs in place and attract customers. In-store displays require less surface preparation -and in many shops (or offices) with metal walls or dividers, these types of magnets are great options. These signages are also used in company vehicles as these displays stick to the car without damaging the paint.

    4. Lifting Large Loads

Magnets are popular in fields where people need to lift heavy loads, like collecting metal pieces, moving cars, recovering sunken metal vehicles from underwater, etc. The magnetic machines have few moving parts, and extreme lifting capacity makes magnets a practical choice. These magnets work well on ferromagnetic items.

(Ferromagnetism is the basic process by which certain materials form permanent magnets or are attracted to magnets.).

    5. Jewellery

The usage of the magnet is widespread in the jewellery industry, and neodymium magnets are the first preference of jewellers for making clasps. The piercing-free earrings are heavily dependent on these magnets too. The powerful magnetic force makes this metal ideal for jewellery. The magnetic locks and clasps make it easy for people to wear jewellery without piercing their bodies.

    6. Home & Wall Decor

Magnets are an excellent choice for wall decorations, and people can use small magnets to hold heavy decorative items. You can also switch places and arrange the magnets to make different decorations. The hexagonal LED night lights, also known as the honeycomb lights, are the latest wall decorations that use magnets.

    7. Stationery & Business Supplies

Business cards and flyers use this magnet a lot. The same holds for other printed items as well. The discreet closures for planners or books by a magnetic lid, reusable notes to stick on the fridge, almirah, etc., are examples of the usage of magnets in stationery.

These are the top 7 uses of neodymium magnets, but the entire list is too long to be discussed here. The demand for this element is increasing day by day -and with the increase in automation and AI in the manufacturing industry, the demand for magnets made of this element will increase further.
